Disparity in the civilization was noticed at the dawn of learning phase in the European world during the period of Socrates down up to the period of Aristotle through Plato. It was actually taking care of and redresses the intrinsic cries of human Soul, by Sir Isaac Newton through crafting of his Principia Mathematica. The role of which was a projective understanding of intrinsic qualities of human being and giving a lease of life to each attributes to blossom with the gentle breeze and sneezing watery lap of Mother-Nature.

It was long before, roughly around twenty thousand years prior to Jesus the sages of India’s Vedic period had identified the intrinsic qualities of human person to be one and the same having drawn and derived from the same cosmic source of the Supreme in all conditions spread across the lengths, breadths and corners of the world. The sages had proclaimed that the Supreme is residing within every person: Sarvam Khalu Idam Brahman. The 'Brahan' supreme is the creator and maintainer of the entire universe and He has led every element of creation thrive forward in life with same elemental treasures of the Supreme Divine. However, during the period of historical progress the human journey has taken an erotic path leading to divisions and classifications across nations, places, clans, cultures, faiths, tests, choices, preferences and egotism. The civilization has therefore gone into many fragments at times or most of the times forgetting that a large number of potent souls are lying uncared for their proper blossoming. It is in this modern era, this has turned into a problem of social and cultural living of human being on earth in different places.

In India, we have observed the similar scenario almost everywhere, particularly visible in urban and metropolitan setting. We being people from the Eastern part of the country, basically centering around the metropoly of Kolkata. Considered in our honest understanding the impetus urge and inner call to do something as a kind of salvage or mending for the evils of civilizations. It is in this backdrop, EIILM-Kolkata, a small but a very strong, promising and overtly globalised institution of higher professional learning thought about having an arm of social presence and trying to discover a socio-economico-cultural balm to redress the ailments of the bottom of the society the extent it is possible and feasible. Towards Life Foundation(TLF) is an outcome of that mind. It is a collective initiative of the teachers teaching in the classes of MBA, BBA, BCA etc., the students studying in those classes, some noble hearted social entrepreneurs and supportive minds and people drawn from different walks of life in the society.

The journey of TLF started way back in 2006 through a comprehensive Research Study of the City of Kolkata, spanning its length, breadth and deposits. There are a large number of souls managing to live lives in human abode, almost at the same physical description of maintaining the vital force alive in the conditions of despairs, delusions, disappointments, crimes, horrors and depressive features. Being people drawn from basically an academic institution, the journey first started with imparting some lessons to the children of people living by the side of the canals passing through the metropoly, by the side of the big beds which allows different wheelers to wheel through and beneath the flyover runs across the pillars, squarely living in all situations of burning heat, chilling cold, drenching waters at different appropriate seasons. Food itself is a crisis. Apart from that the right food of knowledge and the appropriate inputs for a life to stand up was a crisis throughout. TLF with its soft touch by hundreds of hands of young MBA, BBA, BCA and other students and their teachers along with the sympathetic good hearted people have made a breakthrough in the journey of life of many of these people scattered at different places of the city of Kolkata, spread across from one end at the corner to down the lane.

• Infuse the strength of mind among all these children drawn from pavements, slums, shanties, canal sides, beneath shades, road sides and similar contexts.
• Tangible inputs of education at the level of fundamentals of science of life, science of nature, science of the activities, art of work, art of thought, art of accomplishments, art of creations and art of attaining strength of mind.
• Unfold the hidden and intrinsic spirit within to mould those elements of spirit into activities of work meaningful to life and society.
• To hold their hands and support their minds towards becoming a tangible economic unit in the society, not only maintaining the individual life, but also contributing to the time now and forward, the elemental living for similar or dissimilar others.
• To infuse empirical and eternal values in all of them with a view to develop a cluster of Sattwa Guna (attributes of righteousness) in each of them in such a manner that the effect of spread of this generates a new dimension of the societies which would be in a position to hold the backbone and stems of the future of civilization.
• Make them a total complete person and be a believer of truth in life.
